My Chameleon pattern is knit inside out in the round so that the bumpy side is showing rather than the smooth side. Knitting inside out in the round is as easy as ordinary knitting in the round but since it can be hard to visualise I've put together a few photos to show how I did it.
1. Cast six stitches onto a double point needle.

2. When working a small diameter on circular needles I normally work at least the first round as though it is an i-cord. Simply slide the cast on stitches to the other end of the double point needle and knit them.

3. When working the next round I distribute the stitches onto my preferred number of double point needles as I knit. In this example I started with six stitches and changed to a new double point needle every time I worked two (ending with three needles each with two stitches).

4. Continue working in pattern for a few more rounds. The photo below is at the end of round 5. As you can see, the needle with the stitches about to be knit is closest to you and the work is coming down through the centre of the needles.

5. With small diameter knitting it can be easier to use a crochet hook to turn the tube inside out.
I used the crochet hook to catch the cast on tail and pulled it back through the work, turning the tube of knitting inside out as shown below.

6. Continue knitting in the round with the work turned inside out.
You will notice that, if you hold the needles so that the knitting drops down as before, the needle with the stitches about to be worked is at the back of the work instead of at the front. Alternatively, if you hold the needles close to you the toy will be formed upwards, through the centre of the needles.
